16 years after the untimely death of matinee idol Rico Yan, his “Gimik” co-star Jolina Magdangal is opening up about the impact of his passing in her life.
In the morning show “Magandang Buhay”, the actress-host said, “Ito medyo matagal na, kumbaga dati ang thinking ko ang mga sumasakabilang-buhay lang ay 'yung mga matatanda na. Kasi matatanda na sila, mahina na sila. Pero noong namatay si Rico Yan, naging close kasi kami dahil sa 'Gimik', siguro it took me one day, bumalik pa ako ng burol para lang mapuntahan siya.”
She continued, “Hindi ako makapaniwala. Pwede rin palang mamatay 'yung kaedad ko. Parang ang akala ko lang ay matatanda. Pero anytime pala, kahit ano’ng edad mo, kapag kinuha ka, tapos ang buhay. So ang laki noong impact sa akin.”
Rico died on March 29, 2002. He was 27 years old, and was one of the biggest stars during his time. His last film was 2002’s “Got 2 Believe” with Claudine Barretto.
