Vilma Santos is one of the biggest icons in Philippine cinema, and as this legendary actress celebrates her birthday today, November 3, we’re looking back on three of her best big screen roles.
In this Rory Quintos classic, Ate Vi portrayed Josie, a hardworking OFW who comes home to the Philippines only to find that her children don’t quite welcome her with open arms anymore. Also starring Claudine Barretto, this movie has one of the most unforgettable confrontations scenes of all time.

2. The Healing”
This horror film was released in 2012, Vilma’s 50th year as an actress. She plays Seth, a woman who witnesses a string of deaths caused by faith healing. Also starring Kim Chiu and Pokwang, it’s the right mix of creepy and interesting and you need to watch it stat.

3. “Everything About Her”
In “Everything”, Vilma plays Vivian, a strong and unbreakable woman who made struggling with Stage 3 cancer look like a piece of cake. This also stars Angel Locsin and Xian Lim, two actors who should be applauded for holding their own so well next to the Star For All Seasons.
