Now free to live in peace with her three beautiful daughters, Sunshine Cruz is a woman filled with happiness and positivity as her 13-year marriage with actor-politician Cesar Montano was granted an annulment after four years of legal battle.
The "Just The Way You Are" actress shared her journey in a one-on-one interview with PEP last September 18.
"Sa sobrang saya ko ngayon, lahat ng kaaway ko, kahit 'yung mga may utang sa akin, patatawarin ko! Ngayong araw lang, ha," she said.
The 41-year-old actress shared that her happiness was incomparable when she found out the news.
"Napasigaw talaga ako nung nalaman ko. 'Yung malakas na sigaw, dinig hanggang baba! Nagulat buong bahay!"
Sunshine was fixing her bedroom when she received a message from her lawyer that made her heart race.
"Kape pa lang iniinom ko, talagang nanginginig ako, tapos thank you ako nang thank you sa lawyer ko."
Her daughters Angelina, Samantha, and Chesca sent her congratulatory messages on their group chat.
"Ka-message ko sila, tuwang-tuwa. Meron kaming group [chat], e. 'OMG. Congrats, Mommy, I'm happy for you'. Alam nila yung hirap."
In spite of the hardships she went through, Sunshine maintained she's still grateful to Cesar.
"Kung meron mang pinagpapasalamat sa kaniya--lumakas ako, naging matapang, natuto akong lumaban, hindi ko nagagawa 'yun noon! At, siyempre, binigyan niya ako ng tatlong mga anak," she said to PEP.
Cesar kept his silence regarding the issue until last October 6, when the "Kid Kulafu" actor released a brief statement on Philippine Daily Inquirer saying, "I believe God allows everything to happen for a purpose. Marriage is one of the most expensive schools of highest learning in life. But more valuable than money is time. God didn't let me get out of it without learning something. God is good, all glory to Him."
