Basha, Bobbie, Cat, and Bru. These are just some of the iconic movie characters we have Bea Alonzo to thank for. She's had a long and storied showbiz career, and she spilled some secrets about four of her most memorable movies "Close to You", "One More Chance", "Four Sisters and a Wedding", and "She's The One" in a new exclusive interview with us!
The actress gave us some no-holds-barred truth-telling, and we're living for it. Continue reading below to get a peek on what really goes on behind-the-scenes with the Movie Queen herself!
1. "Close to You"
John Lloyd Cruz and Sam Milby topbilled this 2006 rom-com with Bea, and her secret concerns both of them, and for some reason, a tarsier.
She reveals, "Nagalit pa ako kay Sam diyan. Kasi nasa Bohol kami niyan, 'yan 'yung movie na umiikot kami sa Pilipinas. And then kasi kami ni John Lloyd, grabe kami mag-asaran, sobrang aso't pusa kaming dalawa. So si Sam, akala niya ganoon lang ako, pwede ako asarin ng kahit sino. Tinulak niya ako sa tarsier!"
She continued, "Eh, takot ako sa mga hayop. Oh my God, galit na galit talaga ako sa kanya. Ilang linggo ko siyang hindi pinansin. Hindi lahat ng tao naasar ako nang kagaya ni John Lloyd. Sorry siya nang sorry! Pero after noon, naging super good friends kami."
2. "One More Chance"
According to Bea, she almost quit showbiz while filming the modern classic "One More Chance". She revealed, "19 ako niyan, tapos parang ayaw ko na...quarter life crisis. Ayaw ko na niyan."
But as we all know, Bea chose to stay and make countless more films. And aren't we all so thankful for that? <3
3. "Four Sisters and a Wedding"
According to Bea, the eternally quotable "Four Sisters" was a pleasure to film. It had been her first time working with Angel Locsin, Shaina Magdayao, and Toni Gonzaga, and the Movie Queen admitted that it was truly special.
She said, "One for the books 'yan kasi baka hindi na mangyari sa future...gusto ko ulit makatrabaho 'yung mga nakatrabaho ko diyan."
As for those enduring "Four Sisters" memes that are so popular online, Bea loves them!
"Sobrang nakakatawa, kasi parang feeling ko ang daming naka-relate," she enthused, "There's a Bobbie in every family, there's a Gabbie, an Alex, and a Teddie. Personally, naka-relate ako sa character ko. Ang sarap nga kasi makagawa ng family drama, and heartwarming siya hindi siya 'yung full drama."
4. "She's The One"
Here's something: Bea is a hardcore Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil fan.
So hardcore, in fact, that she made some serious sacrifices for Enrique while shooting this 2013 hit. I really wanted him for the role. Sobrang bagay na bagay siya!"
She continued, "Tapos, first movie 'to ni Liza Soberano, kaya diyan nabuo ang LizQuen. Tsaka sila, hindi sila nagbago, they're still the same kind people na nakatrabaho ko in the past."
Bea stars in the new romantic drama "First Love" alongside Aga Muhlach. Directed by Paul Soriano, it's now showing in cinemas nationwide.
