Vice, may babala sa mga ‘fantards’

Vice Ganda has sent a warning to fans who’ve become too “OA” when showing support for their idols.

Over the weekend, the unkabogable host-comedian went on a Twitter rant over fans who “think they own you.”

Vice related that fans should check themselves if they’re already becoming “stupid fantards.”

He also went live on Facebook to share more of his feelings on the matter, and stated that he only wants nothing but love from his fans.

“I just pray na maging maayos ‘yung pagpapakita natin ng suporta at pagmamahal. You don’t have to bash other people just to show your support sa’kin,” he said.  “Masarap kayo magmahal, pero may mga iba din naman na OA din. OA mag-demand, OA makapag-pressure, kung makapagsalita din kapag hindi pabor sa kanila ‘yung nangyayari, kung makapag-utos, masyado ring magaling.”

He cited what happened on “It’s Showtime” last Saturday, January 21, as an example, when fans started to bash a contestant for being too “clingy” to him.

“Ayaw ko kayong matulad sa ibang fandoms na may ganoon na gawi, may ganung kultura na hindi masyadong maganda,” he said. “I want you to be intelligent… fair… and loving.”

He also implored fans not to be too possessive of their idols, as it can affect their mental health.

“Ang dami ng tao ang nilalamon ng DEPRESSION dahil sa sobrang PRESSURE na dulot ng trabaho, at ng mga taong inaakala nilang sumusuporta sa kanila,” he said.

Vice was supported by a handful of artists on Twitter, including Lea Salonga and Moira dela Torre.

“The relationship between artist and fan is symbiotic. One cannot live without the other but, as in every relationship, there are boundaries that must be erected and respected,” Lea said.

But still, Vice remains thankful to everyone who loves and supports him.

He wrote, “Thank you to all my Little Ponies and Babies who love me. Who simply love me. I appreciate it! And I love you too!”

Vice stars in the superhero film “The Revenger Squad” with Daniel Padilla and Pia Wurtzbach. Directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal, it is now the highest grossing Filipino film of all time.
