"Ang Babeng Humayo" continues to bring honor to our country, bagging three nominations for the 15th International Cinephile Society (ICS) Awards.
The 2016 Lav Diaz film starring ABS-CBN Chief Content Officer and University President Charo Santos-Concio is nominated for Best Film Not in English Language and Best Adapted Screenplay. One of its stars, John Lloyd Cruz, is nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
John Lloyd expressed how honored he is for the nod through a message to ABS-CBN News' MJ Felipe. The actor wrote, "I think this is the closest I'm gonna get to Daniel Day-Lewis. Totally unbelievable. Utterly blew my mind and profoundly humbling."
He continued, "I'm truly honored by the nomination. I feel like I already won something by reading my name alongside such names in filmmaking."
"Ang Babaeng Humayo" premiered at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival where it would go on to win its highest prize, the Leone d'Oro. Produced by Cinema One Originals and Sine Olivia Pilipinas, it was locally distributed by Star Cinema back in 2016.
"Humayo" also starred Nonie Buencamino, Shamaine Buencamino, and Michael de Mesa.
