‘Ang Dalawang Mrs Reyes’ stars take their stand on same-sex marriage

Love is love is love. Whether you’re a man, a woman, gay, straight, or bi, love means the same for everyone. As humans, it’s something we all have the right to feel. But sadly, not everyone gets to do that.

Kapamilya stars Judy Ann Santos, Angelica Panganiban, and JC de Vera expressed their thoughts about this when asked about same-sex marriage at the digital conference of “Ang Dalawang Mrs Reyes” last Saturday, January 13.
Judy Ann started with the question, "Bakit hindi?” before adding,“Love is for everyone. It's the best feeling in the world. Being in love and being loved at the same time.”

But the bottom line is, bakit hindi natin hayaang maging masaya ang mga tao?” she said. “We all deserve to be happy, we all deserve to be in love, and we all deserve to be married legally, if we want to be married legally. Hindi kailangan ng buong mundo to be involved to be married.”

The Queen of Philippine Soap Opera stressed that same-sex marriage is a right that won’t trump others that are already existing, so there’s no good reason for anyone to stop. Hindi naman, it's gonna be the same.”

Judy Ann continued, “For me, we all deserve to happy. I just hope one day, sa mga talagang sagrado sa mga bagay-bagay sa mga pag-iisip ng same-sex marriage, I just feel na it's kind of unfair if we judge people through their genders.

For her, there are far more problems in the country that should be addressed and deciding for same-sex marriage is something that shouldn’t even be argued about. Pero same-sex marriage is the most basic kung tutuusin na pinag-uusapan.

Angelica shares the same sentiment and thinks making “love” exclusively available only for straight people just isn’t right.

One day, dito sa bansa natin,” said Angelica.

The Box Office Drama Queen also mentioned that same-sex marriage shouldn’t be treated as if it’s a crime.

JC, on the other hand, shed light on the true meaning of the saying, “Live and let live.”

Kailangan talaga very open-minded tayo. Kasi sa ngayon, sa dinami-dami ng pangyayari sa mundo, sa tingin ko dapat hindi na natin pag-awayan 'yan kasi as one na tayodapat.” said the former “The Better Half” actor.

He went on, “Slowly, natatanggap na ng mga tao talaga. Para dun sa mga hindi pa naiintindihan, I pray also na maintindihan na din nila. I just want to be happy and everybody to be happy. Magpakatotoo. Sana magkaroon ng unity, one love for God, for the people, and for the Earth."

Directed by Jun Robles Lana, "Ang Dalawang Mrs Reyes" is showing in cinemas this January 17. It also stars Joross Gamboa, JC de Vera, Andrea Brillantes, Carmi Martin, and more.
