By now, everyone would have seen at least one side of Elisse Joson on-screen. Whether it’s in a commercial, a TV series, a variety show, a movie, a cover of a magazine, content of a manga (“Vlogger Girl Problems” came hot off the press!), a music video, or an out-of-home ad, her face is almost ubiquitous.
Nonetheless, there is still more to this talented young lady than what we’ve been seeing, and that’s what she wants to let us in on in her newly launched, self-titled YouTube channel.
Elisse shoots and edits videos herself, and vlogging is something that she has always wanted to get her hands on.
“Dati pa po kasi dream ko na talaga ‘yung magkaro’n ng vlog,” she told us after the bloggers conference of “The Good Son,” the new primetime series she’s in, last September 14.
What inspired her to really give this dream a go was the tremendous reaction she received after sharing her Turkey video (for her Mega fashion shoot with on-screen partner McCoy de Leon), which she edited herself.
“It was for fun lang,” she revealed. “And nagustuhan ng maraming tao so sabi ko, maybe this is a sign that I actually pursue it. Kasi bukod sa work sa showbiz, minsan nase-stress ka rin po kasi ang daming ginagawa, ang daming kailangang isipin. This is something that I want to do for myself. Para something outside of showbiz.”
The Turkey video, which she uploaded in three sets of one-minute clips on Instagram, collectively received nearly 150,000 views on the social-sharing app, as of this writing. Add to that the almost 25,000 views that the full YouTube version got when it was uploaded last September 1.
Elisse elaborated, “I want to show them a side of me that they don’t get to see on TV. Kasi ‘yung sa TV po, that’s showbiz na. That’s the industry we’re in. That’s work po. I want to show them what I like to do when I’m not working, how I really am with my friends, ‘yung mga ganung bagay po na I think they deserve to know kasi it’s something personal eh. I want them to have a peek of who I really am.”
As an influential personality on social media, Elisse knows the power that celebrities can have in inspiring other people. They're now who everyone calls influencers. On this, she said, “Sa’kin po gusto ko ring magkaro’n ng ganung impact sa mga manonood.”
She’s been trying out editing and shooting since her days in the US, where she and her mother Barbie Joson stayed for a few years.
“I would always do music videos na alam ko naman pong hindi pa naman ako marunong mag-edit pero ginagawa ko pa rin po and pino-post ko pa rin. Experience, very little pero enjoy ko po kasi,” the former “Pinoy Big Brother Lucky Season 7” housemate enthused.
Of course, her vlogging journey wouldn’t be complete if she wouldn’t feature McCoy in one of it in the future.
“Actually people are requesting for it,” Elisse said. “Ngayon po hindi ko pa po naiisip [‘yung concept ng sa kanya] kasi to start of, I want to do videos first of how they would get to know me. After that, when I established that already, magi-invite na po ako ng iba, si McCoy siyempre.”
