Vilma expresses her disapproval on CHR P1,000 budget

Lipa City Representative Vilma Santos made a statement on the P1,000 proposed budget for the Commission on Human Rights, clarifying that she strongly disapproves of it.

Vilma shared her opinions via an SMS sent to her son Luis Manzano which he posted for her on his Twitter page today, September 13, after the Star For All Seasons received backlash when her name didn’t appear on the list of Representatives who voted against it.

Luis, however, explained that Vilma’s wasn’t on that list because she was not present when the voting occurred as she was about to be admitted to a hospital.

More tweets came from Luis in defense of his mom, before sharing a screencap of her actual message.

She wrote:

“I am against cutting the budget of the CHR. They have a duty to perform as mandated by the constitution.

"With so much crimes/EJK – they need more resources to these investigations. Ito ang isang ahensya na tumutulong sa karapatang pang tao!

“I wasn’t able to attend yesterday’s session ‘cause I had a n ulcers [sic] attack. I am under medication. But will work today!!!”
