“Love You to the Stars and Back “ is probably Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto’s heaviest and hardest work to date. The trailer alone showed a wide range of emotions from the two - from the greatest joy to the greatest pain.
But did you know almost none of their heavy scenes were rehearsed?
During their bloggers conference yesterday, August 31, Joshua and Julia revealed that a majority of their scenes were improvised - almost no run through before takes.
“Lahat ng eksena, katiting lang ng mga lines namin sa script,” Joshua shared. “Nagkakagulatan na lang kami, kasi sabi ni Direk (Antoinette Jadaone) bago mag-eksena, ‘wag kami mag-uusap… So kapag dating namin sa set, hindi namin alam ang sasabihin ng isa’t isa, so batuhan talaga kami.”
Julia further shared that during one scene, she almost broke character because she was caught off guard over what Joshua did.
“Mas may panic because you don’t know what to do,” she said. “[During that scene], I was speaking in English. That was Julia talking na. I was so close to saying ‘baba’ but then I was like, no, I have to keep going, so I went back to Mika again and spoke in Tagalog again.”
Despite having a more difficult time while shooting because of all the improvization, Joshua and Julia said they wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Hindi namin ‘yun magagawa with another actor or actress,” Joshua said.
Julia added, “ It takes two to tango talaga.”
“Love You to the Stars and Back” is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
