Guji admits going on Tinder after breakup with Kaye

We imagine you would really fall head over heels when in a relationship with someone as beautiful as Kaye Abad. And that’s exactly how it felt for her ex-boyfriend Guji Lorenzana.

He was deeply in love and gave everything to their relationship, but what they realized after their three-year relationship was that she wasn’t.

“Feeling ko noong naging kami, hindi pa siya ready na makapasok sa isang relationship. Ako naman, sa sobrang na-in love ako kay Kaye, na hindi ko talaga nakita na iyon ang magiging ending namin—na mag-break kami. Wala lang, I think, after a while na na-realize ko na after many years, hindi pa siya ready... na mali pala 'yung pagiging kami, kaya ‘yun. Ako naman, iba 'yung feeling ko 'cause sobra akong na-in love,” said Guji in an interview with PEP.

The actor then opened up about how he focused too much on Kaye’s needs and in the process, he unknowingly neglected himself.

“Noong naging kami, naging very involved ako sa kanya. Parang nakalimutan ko ang sarili ko. If you've noticed, 'yung mga picture ko dati, medyo tumaba ako, parang hindi ako nagti-take care sa sarili ko. I wasn't concentrating sa work, parang concentrated lang ako sa lahat ng gusto ni Kaye. And that's when I realized na dapat I shouldn't have done that, na dapat naging lalaki ako. Dapat naging seryoso ako sa work, sa buhay, sa lahat,” he said.

Guji revealed that he turned to the things that most guys go after when their relationship ended. “Nag-Tinder ako, nagpakasaya. I went out with my friends, ginawa ko 'yung mga ginagawa ng boys after a breakup. And then, na-realize ko rin after that na, ‘Why did she break up with me? Hey, there must be something wrong.’ Yun, inayos ko ang buhay ko, naging seryoso ako sa buhay, naging seryoso ako sa love, at hinanap ko talaga kung ano ang passion ko. So, I started writing music, I started writing scripts, I started working on myself.”

It’s been two years since they announced their breakup and have found their respective partners for life, but Guji shared that he still have interactions with Kaye from time to time.

“Minsan nagte-text. Like, noong nag-propose ako sa wife ko, nag-text siya na ‘Congratulations,’ ganyan. And nakita ko na nagla-like siya sa mga posts ko, and sa posts ng family ko. So, very much involved pa rin naman siya sa family ko,” he told PEP.

Kaye is now married to former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Paul Jake Castillo, whom she started seeing three months after her breakup with Guji went public.

When asked if he thinks Kaye’s relationship with Paul Jake overlapped with theirs, Guji answered, “No naman, wala naman akong nafi-feel. I would like to think na naging loyal si Kaye throughout, and naging sila lang after naging kami. ‘Yun 'yung gusto ko na... that's what I want to believe. ‘Di ko alam kung sure o hindi, but that's what I want to believe... na wala munang nangyari sa kanila before me.”
But, of course, Guji has moved on and is also married. He married interior designer Cheska Nolasco with a beautiful wedding ceremony held in Makati in February of 2016.

Guji also said that he is open to work with Kaye and/or Paul Jake if given a project. “Oo naman. But si Paul Jake, I don't think na showbiz pa siya eh. But si Kaye, there's a chance if ever. Magaling kasi si Kaye, and if there's a chance na magka-work kami, okay lang sa akin.”
