Jona wins ‘The Voice Teens PH’ amid bashing

Jona Soquite couldn’t hide her tears when ABS-CBN News got a hold of her for an interview just moments after she was announced as the very first “The Voice Teens Philippines” champion last Sunday, July 30.

The 13-year-old vocal powerhouse - the youngest among the four finalists - extended her gratitude to everyone who voted and supported her since the beginning of the competition.

She got 44% of the votes in total against Jeremy Glinoga, Mica Becerro, and Isabela Vinzon. However, Jona didn’t always have this amount of love from the viewers. She became a center of bashing when her coach Sarah Geronimo chose her during the Knockout rounds.

Nagpapasalamat din ako,” Sarah said on bashers. Napaka-versatile. Kahit anong kantang ibigay mo sa kanya, kaya niyang gawin. So sobrang proud ako sa kanya.”

The “Finally Found Someone” actress also expressed her admiration for the other finalists. Meron tayong operatic, meron tayong nag-power ballad… Sabi ko nga, kahit sinong manalo magiging happy ako. Pero siyempre Team Sarah pa rin!”

Jona’s grand prize includes P1 million, a house & lot, a business package, and more, all of which she plans to share with her family.
