Jake Cuenca has expressed his disappointment about the current state of the country's magazine covers.
In a recent interview with PEP, the actor elaborated on his tweet last week, July 11, which criticized magazines for repeatedly featuring the same celebrities in their covers.
Jake said, "Honestly, I love magazines. I have so many magazines at home and I use magazines as inspiration, [but] how can you be inspired when you see the same (thing) over and over again?"
He continued, "Give me some variety. Have people who can actually influence, but no offense to any of the magazines. Sana lang we see something different sometimes, parang kasi pare-pareho nalang."
Jake went on to clarify that he's voicing his opinion because he's genuinely interested in variety, and not because he wants to be a magazine cover boy.
"It would be nice to have options, but we don't...if you see one cover, it's the same thing with 10 [different] covers," he asserted. "Why do you have to have the same thing over and over again? You can't eat adobo every day!"
According to Jake, he's not afraid of getting backlash from the magazine industry, saying, "It's not that I'm hating on them, it's just that I'm giving my honest opinion."
"Can't we have an opinion?"
Jake stars in the television series "Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin".
