In an interview after the open rehearsals for his “Nakakalokal” album, Ogie Alcasid talked about having been considered to host the Philippine version of “Little Big Shots" The owners of the franchise, however, preferred that Billy Crawford took on the role instead.
Nonetheless, Ogie remains thankful.
“Siyempre, dapat talagang 'yung karapat-dapat 'yun ang maging host,” he said. “I’m just thankful to ABS CBN that they even considered me. That I was even given the opportunity to do the mock shoot.”
He also couldn’t be happier for Billy who, according to Ogie, is “like a brother” to him. “I'm so happy that it went to Billy. Very proud of him. Obviously, he deserves it more than I do. I even texted him sabi ko, ‘Pare, I'm 100% behind you all the way and I wish you all the success.”
The Singer-Songwriter's wife Regine Velazquez, the Asia's Songbird – who's also a big fan of the Steve Harvey-hosted show – was sad to hear that the role was not given to her husband. “Siguro, nagdamdam si Regine… dahil gusto niya sa'kin ‘yon. But like I always say merong nababagay sa'yo, merong hindi. And thinking now sa schedule ko parang ‘di ko rin yata magagawa,” he said.
Ogie still charged all of this to experience. "I'm glad that I went through that,” he said. “Yung hindi naman sa pagiging madamdamin, but na-confuse ako. Parang, anong gustong sabihin sa'kin ni Lord dito? Ngayon, malinaw na. Unang-una, hindi para sa'kin yun, it really is for Billy. Pangalawa, meron akong ibang nakalaan para sa akin."
“Little Big Shots” features uniquely talented kids ages 2 to 12.
Meanwhile, Ogie's "Nakakalokal" album is his first under Star Music and features his collaboration with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra led by Maestro Gerard Salonga.
