Ria Atayde has shut down romance rumors between her and long-time friend Joseph Marco once and for all.
In our exclusive interview after the "My Dear Heart" Finale Press Conference last night, June 8, Ria clarified that Joseph is nothing else but her "best guy friend".
According to the actress, they've been close since Joseph co-starred with her brother Arjo Atayde on "Pure Love" back in 2014.
Ria also explained the reason why Joseph referred to her as "Dory" in an Instagram post last June 4, and why she calls him her "North Star".

She said, "Whenever may masamang nangyayari sa akin or anything, tinatakbuhan ko siya. Be it about love life, or work, kahit saan siya 'yung nagiging takbuhan ko, the same way na ako 'yung takbuhan niya. So parang, you know, Dory...she's always lost. So he's my Marlin."
She continued, "And when you say North Star 'yun 'yung guide 'di ba? Parang kuya rin kasi si Joseph sa akin, 'yung sumasaway, 'yung [magsasabi na] 'I'm happy for you that you're happy pero mali 'yung decision mo,' parang ganoon siya to me eh. So he's like a guide. Ganoon lang 'yun."
Ria Atayde stars in the upcoming film "Can We Still Be Friends?" alongside Gerald Anderson and Arci Munoz. It will mark Ria's big screen debut.
"Can We Still Be Friends?" is directed by Prime Cruz and with a screenplay written by Jen Chuaunsu. It is a love story that celebrates the indomitable millennial spirit as it attempts to ask the proverbial question: can exes really be friends?

"Can We Still Be Friends?" hits all theaters nationwide starting June 14.
