Some of the finest Kapamilya actors have been nominated at the Gawad Urian this year.
ABS-CBN Chief Content Officer and University President Charo Santos, who played the titular character in "Ang Babaeng Humayo," has been nominated for Best Actress. John Lloyd Cruz, also in the film as a lonely epileptic transvestite, along with Nonie Buencamino, who played a hunchback balut vendor, have been nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
“Ang Babaeng Humayo,” a film about a woman who sought revenge at the man who had her wrongfully incarcerated for 30 years, has been nominated for several awards: Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best in Sound, and Best Director for Lav Diaz.
Khalil Ramos has been nominated for Best Actor for his work in “2 Cool 2 Be 4gotten,” a coming-of-age film that depicted the story of Felix, his character, and two half-American brothers.
And the Natatanging Gawad Urian award, the lifetime achievement award for their work in helping shape the Filipino film industry, will be awarded to Gov. Vilma Santos-Recto, the Star for All Seasons.
Given by the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino, the Gawad Urian award is given to those thought to be of cinematic excellence. The awarding ceremony takes place on July 20.
