Thought Picks: What success means, according to Gerald Anderson

By Gerald Anderson as told to Chandral Selim

Success is a weird combination of tangible and relative, but when you sit down and really think about it, it really is a lot more than material things.

Gerald Anderson, an actor who has been a mainstay in our hearts since his "Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition" days, explains his philosophy on being successful. Hopefully this will teach us to view "being on top" in a different perspective.

To those who are struggling to be successful,

I didn't even want to do school plays!

I ask myself, "Paano nangyari 'to? Paano ako nakaabot sa ganito? Paano ako napunta sa ganitong sitwasyon?"

But siyempre 'yung fans and 'yung endorsements and 'yung movies and 'yung shows, they are also part of my success. However, something I've realized in the past few years is being genuinely happy...'yung masaya ka, contented ka sa bawat aspeto ng buhay mo, I think that's when you become very successful.

I think that's success for me.

Love,

Gerald Anderson
