Star Music welcomes singer-songwriter Davey Langit

Former "Pinoy Dream Academy" Season 1 scholar and singer-songwriter Davey Langit has joined the roster of recording artists and music producers of hit-making label Star Music.

The singer-songwriter signed a contract earlier today, May 18.

Present at the contract signing were Star Music head Roxy Liquigan, Star Music audio content head Jonathan Manalo, and talent manager Ogie Alcasid.

In an interview after the contract signing, Davey revealed the exciting things we should watch out for in his upcoming self-titled album.

"The album has 13 tracks, all original. Lahat ng mga kanta sinulat ko sa mga iba't ibang parte ng aking bihaye or aking journey as a songwriter," Davey said.

He added, "Some songs were written as early as 2007. Others just written yesterday, hindi, siguro this year. Some songs were written this year. It's also a collaboration with dear friends of mine na musicians. Andaming mga collaborators nung album."

His album is basically his story.

"Storyteller ako as a songwriter. Basically all my stories and all the stories that I've come across with (ang nasa mga kanta ko)," Davey explained.

The former "PDA" scholar is grateful to Ogie for believing in him and his songs.

"Sobrang grateful ako kay Sir Ogie and the rest of his team," Davey related. "They were the ones who took a gamble sa'kin . Y'know just a kid who plays guitar and writes songs. So for them to invest on me and believe on what I can do, that's more than anything.

"Minsan 'yun lang ang kailangan mo. Bigyan ka lang ng pagkakataon. 'Yun lang."

With a whole new world he's about to face, Davey is thrilled to work and collaborate with other artists.

"Ako, [open ako sa] lahat ng possibilities. Every possibility na ganyan, opportunity na dumarating sa'kin, grateful ako. Kung anuman 'yung dumating. 'Pag may dumating na pwede nila gamitin for a movie, a teleserye or a collaboration with any artist, very open ako diyan.

"Marami [akong gustong makatrabaho]. So far sa aking career, blessed na ako to be surrounded by people na nakatrabaho ko ngayon. Si Sir Ogie and team. Kung sino 'yung darating in the future, lahat 'yan espesyal eh. Wala naman akong 'Uy, sana si ganyan'. 'Pag dumating, salamat," Davey stressed.

Aside from his upcoming album, Davey will also have a concert next month.

"It's on June 15 and 16 at the Maybank Theatre, BGC. It's called 'Perfect Blend'. Kasama ko si Lara Maigue and Basti (Artadi)," he shared.

Davey's career started when he joined "Pinoy Dream Academy" Season 1 where Yeng Constantino emerged as the grand winner.
