Edu on children’s romantic relationships: ‘It’s not important what daddy wants’
Edu Manzano has shared that he does not meddle with his children’s romantic relationships, but he tries to get to know who their partners are.

Take for example his son Luis Manzano, who’s now dating Kapamilya actress Jessy Mendiola.

“I see Jessy. We go out for occasions. Sometimes nagdi-dinner,” he said in an interview with PUSH. “Whatever makes my children happy. ‘Yun siguro ang pinakaimportante. It’s not important what daddy wants. It’s what they want.”

Even when Luis gets into controversies involving his love life, Edu remains at the sidelines.

He said, “Hindi na ako nakikialam, kayang-kaya na nila 'yun. Pinapatulan pa nga ni Luis ‘di ba? I mean they’re okay. I just wish social media was used for more positive things. Hindi lagi 'yung pagiging sa pagba-bash lang ng tao.”

The veteran TV host-actor does not at all interfere with Luis’ decisions regarding his relationships, not even asking him about plans of settling down.

“You know I never ask him and I will never do anything na maaring isipin na pini-pressure ko siya,” said Edu.

Because of this, Edu never really had a favorite from any of Luis’ ex-girlfriends, however, he told PUSH that there is one that he still feels close to and that is Angel Locsin.

Edu revealed that he still calls her “anak,” even after she and Luis broke up almost a year ago. “May isang aspeto sa naging personalidad ni Angel na forever will remain etched in my mind, and this is how she takes care of her father,” he shared.

Up to this day, Edu still feels a connection with Angel because of this admirable trait.

“Her father, may kapansanan, but si Angel has always been there and I can feel it, parang nagba-bounce off 'yung feelings niya sa akin. Nararamdaman ko ‘yun,” Edu explained. “I’m not saying I want my children to take care of me like that. But it’s always nice that children remember that they are still children, that they are products of somebody.”
