The world better prepare to see a very different Judy Ann Santos because she’s about to surprise us all in the upcoming film “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes”.
The Queen of Philippine Soap Opera portrays a strong-minded dermatologist that will stop at nothing to keep her man. But this character is a lot more challenging that you would think, as she confessed agreeing to do this movie is a challenge to her.
“Kung in-offer to sa'kin five years ago, hindi ko babasahin or tatapusin man lang. So ngayon parang feeling ko, kailangan ko i-challenge 'yung sarili ko sa mga characters na out of the box,” she said in an interview last Tuesday, December 5.
The fact that the film is mostly comedy makes it even tougher for this award-winning drama actress. “I haven't done a film na ganitoka-comedy ng matagal na. Parang feeling ko nagpahinga na ko nangmatagal sa pelikula eh, so nung tinanggap ko 'to, suntok sa buwan,” she shared.
Judy Ann added, “'Yung takot, I just have to face it. 'Yung goal ko ng 2017 is to face my fears, so isang character 'to na tinanggap ko nang pikit-mata.”
“Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes” also stars Angelica Panganiban and is set to premiere as Star Cinema’s opening salvo for 2018, which gives both actresses the jitters, but they’re confident that it will be a fun way to start the year.
“Mas takot ako. Sa totoong salita, takot ako. At nae-excite din naman kasi 'di ko alam 'yung magiging reaksyon ng tao. Pero confident ako na maganda 'yung peliklula, confident ako that it's a very funny film,” said Judy Ann.
“Napakagandang opening salvo para sa lahat na salubungin natin 'yung 2018 nang masaya lang. Walang drama. Isang pelikula 'to na siguradong paglabas mo tatawa ka at may pagka-maga lang nangslight 'yung mata mo. 'Yun 'yung maia-assure ko sa kanila,” she ended.
Directed by Jun Lana, the film also stars Joross Gamboa, JC de Vera, and Andrea Brillantes.
