The world is changing and while this generation is arguably better at adapting than most, we rarely get icons who embrace it quite as well as James Reid and Nadine Lustre.
JaDine embodies a certain "millennial-ness" that makes them so appealing and relatable to people their age. And because they lead such public lives, we also have the chance to learn from their principles and beliefs.
Nadine's iconic "c'mon guys, it's 2017" was a defining moment in my life. When Nadine's proclamation blew up online, I was like, "Oo nga no! 2017 na pala!" I realized that in an effort to please my conservative family, I've been holding back on living my best life. I realized that I can be fearless, challenging and independent like Nadine, and chill and careless like James, because besh, pwede ko na gawin gusto ko.
Times change, values adapt. Panis na 'yung pabebe acting kasi 'tol, iba na ang mundo. It's nobody's business what we do with our lives, so we should just live.
But you know, the biggest lesson I learned from JaDine this year is endurance. They had their ups and downs this 2017. They won some and lost some and yet, they choose happiness and to not give up on life and love even though, hey, the world sucks sometimes.
It's true that in spite all the positive energy you release, you are still sometimes met with hate. But this doesn't mean you should just give up on people or on faith and love and friendship because yes, hate is everywhere and tragedy is just around the corner but love? Love is inside us and it's the fuel that keeps us going. Tingnan mo nalang ang JaDine, 'di ba?
So cheers to the rollercoaster year these two had this 2017! Here's to hoping that 2018 will be more legendary.
