Actress Rhian Ramos stars in the romantic-comedy "Fallback," together with Zanjoe Marudo and Daniel Matsunaga.
Coming from another network, we were curious as to how Rhian handled working with two Kapamilya leading men for the film.
At a huddle after the press conference of "Fallback" last Saturday, November 4, Rhian shared how she really felt about shooting with the two.
As for Daniel, she said that she has worked with him before already, so acting with him again is a familiar feeling.
She said, "Very warm, very comfortable with Daniel."
But with Zanjoe, it was a totally different experience. She shared, "With Z, it was like a challenge."
She then related that they got awkward at first. "Honestly, nahirapan ako to get to know him especially in the start of the project. Feeling ko napaka-mysterious niya, 'di siya nagsasalita. Minsan kahit kinakausap ko, magbibigay siya ng one word answer. Ganun nung una."
But Rhian was able to break the ice with a topic that Zanjoe is passionate about: golf.
"I asked him about golf. And then he talked for a good twenty minutes. I don't play golf pero siguro nakaka-relate lang ako dahil there are sports that I like to spend time on away from work. So naka-relate ako na 'yung love niya for golf is like yung love ko for racing," she said.
Halfway into the movie, that's when Rhian felt that she and Zanjoe have gotten more comfortable with each other as they were already sharing certain things about their personal lives and more.
"Pero later on, dahil sa mga nangyayari dun sa mga eksena, nagku-kwento na din kami kung paano kami nakaka-relate sa character," she said.
She added, "Never kong nakuha sa kanya yung vibe na suplado siya. It's more of tahimik and how are we going to be open with each other. And then sa bandang gitna ng movie, dun ko na na-discover 'yung napakakulit niyang sense of humor, malakas din pala siya mang-asar, tapos yung mga interests niya."
The reliable lead actress also admitted that she felt sepanx on the last day of shooting!
"Nung last day [ng shooting], that's when I felt pa the closest to him and then nung natapos 'yung movie, instant sepanx (separation anxiety). Instant sepanx kasi medyo nanghinayang ako ng konti na parang kung kelan patapos na dun pa kami naging tight."
She's also all-praises about Zanjoe's work ethics, saying, "He's also super professional. Feeling ko kahit anong character pa ang ibigay mo sa kanya, kanya niyang i-deliver effectively. And whether character yan na maraming similarities sa kanya or sobrang iba, he's so authentic kasi, bigay na bigay siya sa emotions."
It's exciting to see how Rhian, Zanjoe, and Daniel will light up the cinema screens in their first film together.
"Fallback" is about a girl named Michelle (Rhian who is afraid to get hurt. She then finds herself a fallback guy in the person of her ex-boyfriend (Zanjoe Marudo) - while she is still in a relationship with Chris (Daniel Matsunaga). Can Michelle really save herself from the pain?
"Fallback" is produced by Cineko and distributed by Star Cinema. It opens in cinemas this November 15.
