Beauty and Bianca talk about being ‘moms’ to teenagers in ‘Pusong Ligaw’

At “Pusong Ligaw”’s press conference last November 6, Beauty Gonzalez and Bianca King addressed questions on unleashing the motherly side to their roles as Tessa and Marga respectively, specifically how they became on-screen moms to teenagers.

Bianca’s Marga is mother to Sofia Andres’ Vida and while the former doesn't have a kid of her own yet, she shared that she and the young actress have a close, almost sisterly bond in real life.

“I think it helps that my affection for Sofia is real, in real life,” Bianca began to explain. “And I’m like kind of an older sister to her also in real life, so parang that 'ate' figure kind of carries over.”

She added that she’s kind of a mother - a “pet mother” to her dog Burger - and that she sometimes pulled feelings from the love she has for her furry buddy to use in scenes.

“So ‘pag kailangan kong umiyak, nilalagay ko ‘yung ulo ni Burger kay Sofia,” Bianca quipped. “No, no, I really, really love my dogs so much. They’re like my children, so hindi naging mahirap para sa aking i-tap ‘yung motherly nurturing side ko.”

She shared that playing Vida’s mother for almost seven months now, it’s almost become second nature to her.

“‘Pag magkaeksena kami [ni Sofia], I have to stand taller, my voice has to be deeper, I have to look at her sharply like a mother,” she shared. “Those things lang na 'pag kaeksena ko siya nagiging second nature na siya unlike before na parang tinitimpla ko siya habang nag-eeksena, na ang dami-dami kong iniisip.”

Beauty, on the other hand, plays Tessa who is mother to Enzo Pineda’s Rafa and now Albie Casino’s Leon on the show (we're awaiting the major revelation about Diego Loyzaga's Potpot being her child too!). Meanwhile, in real life, she has a beautiful one-year-old daughter named Olivia with her husband Norman Crisologo.

“Nakatulong na I’m a mom to my lovely sweetie Olivia,” Beauty started “So since I’m working long hours, ‘yung pagiging mom ko sa kanila (the boys), the way I treat them is the way I treat Olivia too. Being motherly to them in the same [way], dahil may anak na ko at naa-apply ko siya sa work ko.”

It clearly also helps that Beauty tries to imagine how she would treat her own daughter if she's as old as her on-screen sons.

“I don’t know - sa set, I’m like a cool mom to them eh,” she said with a smile. “So that’s how I’m with Olivia also.”

Tune in to “Pusong Ligaw” on weekday afternoons on Kapamilya Gold after “It’s Showtime.”
