Box office director Cathy Garcia-Molina praised Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil for their work in the upcoming film “My Ex and Whys.”
Direk Cathy has worked with Liza and Enrique before in their hit teleserye “Forevermore” from 2014 to 2015, and she’s happy that the two have stayed true to their humble selves.
“As always, it’s fun. It’s fun working with them kasing ‘tong dalawang ‘to naman walang arteng mga artista,” said Direk Cathy in an interview yesterday, January 8.
But what she’s more thrilled about is how Liza and Enrique managed to portray their characters in the film who are dealing with emotions that the two young stars have never experienced in real life - at least not yet.
“What’s exciting about this is it’s the challenge that the two are actually portraying characters and emotions that they have never experienced in real life yet.” She added, “And I hope that they would never experience.”
“Pero mahirap to approximate the emotions that the characters that they are playing. Pero mahuhusay naman po sila, kahuhusay naman at nakikinig,” Direk Cathy shared.
No matter how heavy these emotions are, however, everyone would still be able to relate to it.
Direk Cathy said, “Hindi naman po talaga ako nagpapalabas ng kahit na anong eksenang hindi mo mapapatunayang nangyari in real life so lahat po talaga ‘to ay taken from real life situations.”
“It’s very real sa lahat ng mga nagawa nila kasi hindi fairy tale 'yung kwento. It’s a love story and it’s painful as much as it is nakakakilig din,” she continued. “Pinaka-real, less fairy tale-ish among all the films na nagawa nila. Mas based on real events, ‘pag pinanood niyo po mas makaka-relate kayo kasi it’s either it happened to you or it happened to a friend. Or isang kakilala ninyo.”
