Lav Diaz's "Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left)" continues to make waves in the international film scene.
After winning the much-coveted Leone D'Oro (Golden Lion) at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival last week, "Humayo" also made its way to the 2016 Toronto Film Festival.
"Ang Babeng Humayo," which stars ABS-CBN executive Charo Santos and lauded Filipino actors such as John Lloyd Cruz, Shamaine Buencamino, Nonie Buencamino, and Michael de Mesa, earned rave reviews after its TIFF screening.
Cine Vue's critic Ben Nicholson described Charo's performance as "magnetic," while Ethan Vestby from The Film Stage called the film "as nocturnal as the best noir."
The four-hour film is about a former schoolteacher seeking vengeance after being imprisoned for 30 years for a crime she didn't commit.
