Weekend Round-up: Tales of evictions, champions

By Regina Tabora

The past weekend has been an emotional roller-coaster for the teen housemates of “Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky Season 7.”

Last Saturday, August 27, the housemates, led by 13-year old Fenech Veloso, failed the task assigned to them, which was to collect 88 minutes of laughter from their house guest Lola Pina. This meant that their food budget would be cut down.

The housemates shared their feelings on the issue, citing the lack of teamwork as the main reason they failed the task. The issue that Heaven Peralejo, Edward Barber, and Marco Gallo were always going off on their own and not bonding with the rest of the housemates was brought up, too.

Apart from the internal conflicts, the three nominated housemates, Kisses Delavin, Aizan Perez, and Christian Morones had to wait for the results of their “Ligtask Challenge” to find out who would be evicted.

This season, the results of the eviction would not be decided through public voting, but through the skills of the nominees. The challenge for the nominees this week was to finish a maze as fast as they could. Whoever took the most time to finish the challenge would be evicted.

When the results of the challenge were announced, it was Aizan who took the longest time to finish, tallying in three minutes and four seconds against Kisses’ two minutes and 29 seconds, and Christian’s two minutes and 43 seconds. Aizan was immediately welcomed by his mom when he walked out of the house.

Meanwhile, in yesterday’s episode, August 28, the housemates held an open forum to clear up any misunderstandings that have sprung up among them.

Heaven opened up that she felt left out from the other girls, while Kristine Hammond pointed out that most of the time it was her who didn’t want to approach them.

The nominations for eviction were also opened again yesterday, with Rita Gabiola earning the most points from the other housemates (8). Christian was re-nominated when he accumulated seven points. Heaven and Kristine were also nominated with five points each.

Meanwhile, “The Voice Kids Season 3” also held its finale last weekend, and had fans from all over the country in a frenzy to vote for their favorite finalist.

Last Saturday, August 27, the finalists sang in two rounds: the duet with coaches and the upbeat song round.

Justin Alva from Kamp Kawayan sang “Stitches” with Coach Bamboo and “Monster/Lose Yourself” for his upbeat song.

Joshua Oliveros sang “Nais Ko’ with Coach Lea, and “Mangarap Ka.”

The Megastar Sharon Cuneta sang “Batang-Bata Ka Pa” with her mentee Antonetthe Tismo, who also sang “Let’s Get Loud.”

In yesterday’s grand finale, August 28, the three finalists had only one round left: the power ballad song.

Joshua sang “Salamat” by Yeng Constantino, while Justin and Antonetthe sang “How Will I Know” and “Pangako,” respectively.

Before the announcement of the winner, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla made an appearance and sang “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” which was the theme song of their 2015 movie, “Crazy Beautiful You”.

When it was time to reveal the grand champion, Joshua from Team Lea emerged victorious, garnering the largest number of public votes with 38.07%. Justin accumulated 25.24% of the votes, while Antonetthe had 36.69%. It was the first time Lea Salonga’s child mentee won on the show.
