‘Dukot,’ another award winning film for Paul Soriano

He has won many awards for films he either produced or directed and so it is expected that Paul Soriano will be asked if he expects his latest movie, “Dukot,” to win awards as well.

“Dukot” is showing in cinemas nationwide starting on July 13. It is produced by Star Cinema and Soriano’s own production company Ten 17 Films.

If he wins an award or awards for his latest cinematic work, Dukot,” described as a chilling suspense-drama, it would be another feather to his cap. He does not expect it though but considers the possibility a big bonus.

In 2012, Paul won two major awards for his film “Thelma” (for Best Director and Best Screenplay) from the Film Academy of the Philippines (FAP).

In the same year, “Thelma” also won as Digital Movie of the Year, Digital Movie Director of the Year and Digital Movie Original Screenplay of the Year (for Froilan Medina) at the 28th PMPC Star Awards for Movies.

In this year’s 66th Berlin International Film Festival, “Hele sa Hiwagang Hapis,” an eight-hour historical epic that Paul produced, won the Silver Bear Alfred Bauer Prize. The movie was directed by Lav Diaz. (Walden Sadiri M. Belen)
