John Lloyd Cruz has admitted that he's not comfortable with awards because he finds them subjective.
This was what he revealed to members of the press after he accepted his Gawad Urian Best Actor trophy last June 23 for "Honor Thy Father," as reported on "Tonight With Boy Abunda."
People were quite surprised about John Lloyd's "hugot" speech which went, in part:
"Hindi po ako naniniwala sa awards. Pero naniniwala po ako that there is honor in hard work. patience, perseverance, and timing."
He then elaborated his speech by saying, "Hindi 'yung award, it's the honor that goes with it eh, 'yun ang mas mahalaga para sa akin."
The box office actor added that the words he said were very important because they summarized the efforts he gave in the job.
John Lloyd stars in the comeback film of Charo Santos-Concio, "Ang Babaeng Humayo," directed by international award-winning filmmaker Lav Diaz.
