Gloc-9 talks about his new album ‘Sukli’

By Antje Alvarez

OPM icon Gloc-9 is making a Star Music  comeback with his album, "Sukli."

The rapper said during his album press conference yesterday, May 25, that it’s still his dream to write music.

“’Sukli’ is an album that proves writing songs is still my dream come true," he said. "I am happy that my fans, who continue to support me, will hear the new songs I made.”

Gloc-9 revealed his inspiration for writing his new album, saying, “Isa sa pinakamatinding motivation ko to write a good song, madalas 'pag ako’y sobrang lungkot.”

The album’s carrier single “Hoy!” is about Filipino spirit and resilience despite hard times. Its music video was just recently released.

"Sukli" features collaborations with KZ Tandingan on the song "Industriya" and Ebe Dencel on "Ang Probinsyano."

Other than KZ, Ebe, and the other artists that he has collaborated with, the rapper also shared who he’s looking forward to work with in the future.

“Before, si Miss Regine [Velasquez]. Nasa top ‘yan ng list ko. Pero nung nakapag-collaborate na kami, na-cross out ko na ‘yan and tumatalon na ako sa saya. So siyempre isa din dyan si Sir Gary V. I have yet to come up with a song na pwede kay Sir Gary.”

And when Gloc-9 was asked on what he would do about the people who hate on him and his works, the award-winning rapper replied with, “Isa lang naman po ‘yung sinabi ko sa sarili ko. I have no plans in engaging with anybody na nagsasabi ng pangit about me dahil walang magandang idudulot ‘yun.”

"Sukli" will exclusively be streamed on Spotify beginning May 29. Gloc-9 will officially launch his new album, along with special guests, on June 5 at Market! Market!
