Carol Banawa's 90s hit "Bakit 'Di Totohanin" was recently featured in the US hit series "The Vampire Diaries."
It immediately generated buzz among Filipino netizens who were so happy for Carol. At the same time though, it left them in awe as to how it happened.
“Nakatanggap ako ng e-mail, mga last week of February. Tapos yung title nung e-mail ‘Bakit Di Totohanin,’ ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ Episode 716," Carol said in an interview aired on "Rated K," hosted by Korina Sanchez, yesterday, April 10.
The 35-year-old former singer-actress was told about how the "TVD" team would use the Filipino song for the English language series.
"Sabi niya kasi nga meron daw scene for that episode where the characters are in the Philippines, so they wanted to make the scene look and sound authentic that's why they decided to use a Tagalog song," she related.
And with that once in a lifetime chance, Carol happily agreed.
“I’m just lucky. All I can think of is it’s God’s work kasi parang out of all the songs, kanta ko pa," she admitted.
The song was previously featured in a Judy Ann Santos-Piolo Pascual movie of the same title released years back.
Carol has been based in Washington D.C. with her husband and two beautiful kids.
