The restored version of Mike De Leon’s “Kung Mangarap Ka’t Magising” had its red carpet premiere last night, February 10, at the Power Plant Mall.
Kapamilya stars graced the event, including Bela Padilla, Iza Calzado, and Piolo Pascual, as well as ace filmmakers Wenn Deramas and Star Cinema Creative head Olivia Lamasan. ABS-CBN Chief Content Officer Charo Santos-Concio was also present.
Piolo lauded ABS-CBN Film Archives and Restoration for its efforts on taking the initiative to restore classics which as of present, has already reached more than a hundred including "Milan," "Anak," and "Sana Maulit Muli."
"I think there are a lot of films that deserve to be recognized and deserved to be restored para hindi namamatay 'yung culture, 'yung history ng Philippines," he said.
A 20-minute documentary was also shown before the movie, done by Direk Mike De Leon himself. It showed interviews of the cast and the production team.
The audience applauded on the footage of a challenging tracking scene, which required a crew to hang by the side of the car just to take the perfect shot.
The premiere was part of the “Reelive The Classics” film exhibition by the ABS-CBN Film Archives and Restoration Department in partnership with Rockwell, which will run until February 16 at Power Plant Mall in Makati.
