Ryle Santiago of the Hashtags fame had quite the journey to being a star.

The young performer, who's rising to become an established dancer and singer, sat down with "Magandang Buhay" hosts Karla Estrada, Jolina Magdangal and Melai Cantiveros today, December 6, alongside his mother actress Sherilyn Reyes-Tan to talk about his journey to being where he is now, skill-wise.

Sherilyn shared, "When he was growing up, sabi niya sa amin gusto niya mag-artista. Nag-worry kami mag-asawa, kasi hindi namin nakita sa kanya. That time hindi siya marunong kumanta, hindi siya marunong sumayaw, pinaarte namin, hindi makaiyak."

She continued, "Meron siyang mga school activities, sasayaw siya sa school. So one time, sumayaw. Sabi ng daddy niya, 'Hindi ka ba nahihiya sa mga magulang mo? Gigisingin mong maaga, pupunta pa sa school mo, papanoorin ka, tapos hindi ka naman sasayaw nang maayos? Dapat 'yun, 'pag nagpe-perform ka, you give your 100%.'

"The next time na in-invite niya kami sa school activity niya, nagulat kami kasi siya na 'yung choreographer ng buong batch niya at siya na 'yung nasa front at gitna ng buong batch niya."

"So parang nagising siya sa sinabi na 'yun sa kanya." Sherilyn commented, proudly.

According to the two, Ryle's biggest critics are his mother and his stepfather, former basketball player Chris Tan. In fact, Sherilyn shared that when Ryle first started out in the industry, he would dance in his parents' room just so they could see if he was improving.

When asked what pushed Ryle into being an artist, the Hashtags member answered:

"Sobra po akong mahilig po ako sa arts. Everything sa arts. I thought na eto po puwedeng maging outlet, puwede ko i-express 'yung gusto kong gawin."
