After resigning from some programs under ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs, real-life journalist Atom Araullo is set to play a "reel" one in the big screen.
Everyone's favorite internet boyfriend is now a movie star.
Celebrated filmmaker Mike de Leon has cast Atom to play lead character in the film "Citizen Jake," which is about "the world of citizen journalists, social media, and politics," the former in an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer posted today, November 21.
In the same interview, Atom talked about his leap from investigative journalism to acting.
He said, "I just couldn't say no to Mike de Leon. I am taking this leap of faith because I believe in his ability to produce films of exceptional quality that are always imbued with social relevance."
Direk Mike's previous work includes iconic films such as "Batch '81," "Itim" which starred former ABS-CBN President and CEO Charo Santos, and "Kisapmata."
According to Direk Mike, he also plans to bring Atom in for the screenwriting process alongside writer Noel Pascual.
