Do Yeng and KZ's statures pose issues with their husbands?

By Chandral Selim

Wage disparity between men and women is an issue that can cause cracks in some relationships, including marriages,

How does it work when a woman makes more than a man?

This is the question Boy Abunda dared to ask KZ Tandingan and Yeng Constantino in the November 1 episode of "Tonight With Boy Abunda".

Yeng is an established musician. She is dubbed as the Philippines' Pop Rock Superstar and she rose to that title through years of hard work and countless hit singles. She started off as the "Grand Star Dreamer" of the first season of "Pinoy Dream Academy" in 2006, and now at just 27 years old, sits as a judge in the reality singing competition show "Pinoy Band Superstar" alongside Aga Muhlach, Sandara Park and Vice Ganda, as well as "Tawag ng Tanghalan" on "It's Showtime."

KZ, on the other hand, rose to sudden fame when she won the first season of "The X Factor Philippines" in 2012. KZ is quite young in the industry, having only been active for four years, but she has racked up impressive accomplishments. She has been honored by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry, and won the Favorite New Artist award at the MYX Music Awards in 2014.

Yeng is married to Yan Asuncion, a musician-turned-businessman whom she married in a romantic Valentine's Day wedding last year.

KZ is dating TJ Monterde, a talented singer-songwriter from Cagayan de Oro who is best known for his singles, "Tulad Mo" and "Ikaw at Ako."

"Alam ko naman for sure na 'pag naririnig niya na may ganyang issue, nasasaktan siya." KZ said about TJ.

She continued, "Pero kasi confident siya sa love ko sa kanya eh so alam niya na kung anuman 'yung mga issue na 'yun it wouldn't get in the way sa kung anuman 'yung meron kaming dalawa, kasi personal po naming buhay 'yun eh."

Yeng, in turn, said this about her husband:

"Si Yan po marami po 'yan sinacrifice bilang artist. Kasi po si Yan isa po sa main worship leaders ng church namin, 'yung Victory and gumagawa sila ng album. Pinadala pa nga siya sa Nashville to be trained, para sa pagre-recording, pagpo-produce. Pero noong naging kami, he knew...may part sa heart niya na kailangan niya talagang i-let go 'yun and suportahan din ako sa ginagawa ko."

Yeng added that Yan's sacrifices took his life to a different direction, which is business.

She went on to praise Yan's musical prowess. "Siguro hindi ko nao-open masyado sa kanya, pero nalulungkot ako kasi he's really a good songwriter, napakagaling na musician," the multi-awarded music star related. "Nagpe-play ng drums, keyboards, vocals, magaling mag-produce pero right now hindi niya ginagawa, dahil nagfo-focus siya talaga na makakaipon kami so that when the baby comes, talagang sigurado."

Yeng expressed her desire to see her husband play again, saying, "I hope na one day mag-record siya ulit, kumanta siya ulit for God, for the church, for the ministry, for himself also."

KZ and Yeng are set to perform alongside fellow superstars Kyla and Angeline Quinto in the upcoming concert, "Divas: Live in Manila" this month.
