"Actually nakakatuwa na it came out, but I know that there were some people na na-bother."
Those were Jodi Sta. Maria's words in an airport interview today, November 17, when asked to comment on people's reactions about her previous struggles with addiction and depression.

The award-winning actress continued, "But naniniwala naman ako na may mga moments talaga tayo sa life natin that we're not really proud of. And I finally admitted na of course, there were moments in my life that I've undergone depression and I depended on anti-anxiety drugs to be able to escape the loneliness and the pain.
"But then, when you finally come to a point of healing, that point wherein you realize that in spite and despite of everything that you've done in your life, that you are loved and forgiven and accepted."
She went on, "Yung takot, 'yung pretension, yung pag-aalinlangan nawawala and you just become brave and share your story to people in the hopes of ma-inspire sila and 'yung story na pinagdaanan ko sa buhay ko I pray that it brings strength and inspiration and hope to people na dumadaanan doon sa pinagdaanan ko. And it's really with God's grace na nandidito ako ngayon kung nasaan ako ngayon sa buhay ko."
Jodi also shared a funny realization after witnessing how people might have misinterpreted some parts of her admission, specifically, how people thought she was addicted to hard drugs.
She said, "Actually madaming nag-message, kasi people we're thinking it was shabu or cocaine. Sabi ko, siguro the next time I have to be specific because I just said that I turned to drugs but it was anti-anxiety drugs that I turned to during those moments."
But those moments are long behind Jodi, with her professional, personal, and spiritual life all on the rise. Jodi flew to New York today, November 17, to attend the 2016 International Emmy Awards.
The versatile actress, who has a long and fruitful career in Philippine show business, is a nominee for Best Actress for her role in the television drama "Pangako Sa'yo".
When asked if she thinks she has a good chance of winning at the IEmmys, she answered:
"We're only hoping for the best, hindi ba. There's a reason naman kung bakit nasama tayo sa isa sa mga nominado, so let's just pray na makuha natin 'yung trophy."
Jodi also stars in the upcoming film "Dear Other Self" with Joseph Marco and JC de Vera.
