JC Santos is 'not here for fame'

By Chandral Selim

JC Santos is slowly but surely becoming a household name. He stars in the hit ABS-CBN television show "Till I Met You" as Ali, a closeted gay who slowly comes to terms with his sexuality and his feelings for his friends, Iris and Basti, played respectively by Nadine Lustre and James Reid.

In an interview with PEP last October 20, JC says he brings a lot of dedication to his role, and claims that he is not worried about being pigeonholed into gay roles exclusively.

"It's a role, and ako, willing ako gawin lahat. I'm fine. And hindi naman ako natatakot, masaya ako sa acting eh. And it's what I want to do for the rest of my life," he related.

One cannot help but look to JC's theater training as the reason behind his dedication. He started out on the stage before transitioning to the silver screen.

"Ever since I started doing acting and stuff, okay naman ako, I feel great, and it's been so good so far. I love the work and I'm here for the work only," he said.

JC added, "I'm not here for fame, competition and, this time, I’m a normal person who happens to love acting and I have a job, I need a job, and I got the job."
