Actors Robin Padilla and Cherry Pie Picache have both come out to say their piece about Agot Isidro's controversial statements against President Rodrigo "Rody" Duterte and his war on drugs.
Cherry Pie said at the World Day Against Death Penalty last October 10, as quoted by PUSH, "A colleague of mine, Agot Isidro, went viral because of her message, her opinion and her stand."
She continued, "I want to say that I’m one with her. We’re artists, we’re in arts and culture, but we have our own minds, conviction and principles."
Cherry Pie related the recent incidents of extra-judicial killings to her own experience with violence. In 2014, Cherry Pie's mother Zenaida Sison was murdered by one Michael Flores, a drug addict who served as latter's houseboy for six months.
However tragic the experience of losing her mother was, Cherry Pie does not believe that violence is the answer.
"I believe that execution or death is not the means to achieve justice," she said. "Violence and death are not the way to end crimes. I’m here to express my disagreement over the extra-judicial killings."
Robin, in a separate PUSH report, related that he respects Agot's statements.
"Lahat naman tayo ay may opinyon dahil tayo ay nasa malayang bansa. Sabi nga ni Mayor mismo, si Mayor mismo nagsalita na that is our right and he will protect our right," he said. "Ang dami-daming problema ng bansa 'wag na tayo mag-away-away."
