Young actor Diego Loyzaga paid tribute to his grandfather, Pinoy basketball legend Carlos Loyzaga, who has passed away.
The "Pangako Sa'Yo" actor posted his Lolo Caloy's old photo on Instagram yesterday, January 27, showing "The Difference" turning a ball with his finger.
"A philippine icon. Philippine basketball legend. My grandfather. You will be missed. I love you lolo. RIP," he wrote in the caption.
According to ABS-CBN Sports, Caloy was 85 years old when he passed on.
A premiere basketball player and a Philippine Sportswriters Association lifetime achievement awardee, Caloy had led the Philippine team in the Asian Games - for which they won four medals - and in the 1954 FIBA World Championships - for which they got bronze. He had also competed in two Olympic Games.
Caloy is the father of Diego's mother Teresa and her sister Bing.
