Darren: Elha deserved to win 'The Voice Kids'

MANILA - "It's humbling."
These were the words of singer Darren Espanto after his cover of Sia's "Chandelier" earned widespread recognition online, garnering more than 1.6 million views less than a month since it was uploaded.
"I didn't [expect it to go viral]," the 14-year-old Espanto said in an interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" aired Wednesday. "I was actually just at a radio station and that was one of the songs they requested for me."
Asked on how he made it look so effortless, Espanto said: "Kasi I believe you should just enjoy the song and just sing your heart out po when you are singing."
'Elha deserved the crown'
Espanto also gave his reaction to the results of the latest season of "The Voice Kids", which named 11-year-old Elha Nympha as its second grand winner.
"To be honest po it was really anyone's game at lahat po sila magagaling na singer pero congratulations pa rin po kay Elha, she's deserving," he said.
Espanto, who finished runner-up to Lyca Gairanod in the first season, added that it ultimately came down to song choices, and that Nympha, a banana cue vendor from Quezon City, had the "most interesting ones."
For her final three performances, Nympha chose to sing "Narito" with Jed Madela, Mariah Carey's "Emotions," and Martin Nievera's "Ikaw ang Lahat Sa Akin."
