Eight years ago, comedienne Cheena Crab left the country for the United States to build her own family. There, she established her career as a makeup artist, a wife, and a mother to a six-year-old internet sensation Shawn.
But one fateful day, Cheena got a call from Star Cinema offering her a major role for the movie “Etiquette for Mistresses” co-starring four of the most bankable actresses in the country—Claudine Barretto, Kris Aquino, Kim Chiu, and Iza Calzado under the direction of the veteran and award-winning filmmaker Chito Roño.
Humbled and flattered Cheena, who appeared in several ABS-CBN shows such as “Maria Flordeluna” and “Maligno,” where she first worked with the Optimum Star Claudine, and even co-hosted the noontime show “Wowowee,” immediately accepted the offer.
Cheena decided to go back to the country because, as she tells us, “’Pag sinabi ba sa’yo na merong pelikulang nakalaan for you, na ikaw talaga ‘yung gusto nila sa role... aarte ka pa ba? So hindi! My God kailangan ko talagang magawan ng paraan na para umuwi ako, walang kaabog-abog.
She also expresses how surreal it was working with four of the best actresses in the country in a film that tackles the different kinds of mistresses through an equally edgy and entertaining storyline.
“For me, kahit nga ngayong nag-uusap tayo, parang di ako makapaniwala na nangyayari ang lahat. Kapag sa’yo in-offer ‘yung ganyang kagandang pelikula, hindi ka pwedeng magsabi ng no.
She adds, “Very thankful ako sa Star Cinema diyan sa role na ‘yan kasi ito ‘yung first movie na kasama ako from start to finish, kasi dun sa mga previous movies kasa-kasama lang ako.
