Toni Gonzaga and Paul Soriano had their first public appearance as a married couple last night, June 14, at the 46th Guillermo Mendoza Box Office Entertainment Awards held at the Solaire Resorts and Casino in Pasay City.
Addressed as Mrs. Toni Gonzaga-Soriano, the Ultimate Multimedia Star accepted her Box Office Queen award for “Starting Over Again.”
In the latter part of her acceptance speech, Toni made special mention of Direk Paul, who did a cameo in the movie.
“Just like what I said in the movie, in my last line when I met Engineer Martin, I said, your timing is just perfect,” she enthused. “And really I’m saying this to God, his timing is just so perfect because this award couldn’t have come in a better timing now that I’m in a different status in my life, I’ve entered a new chapter in my life.”
Toni further expressed how glad she is that she’s now able to attend awards shows with company.
“He’s blessed me with the greatest gift and the greatest reward and that is to go home to my lifetime partner who’s here with me,” she said, smiling at Paul who’s in the audience capturing her moment through his cellphone. “Dati uma-attend ako ng mga awards night nang mag-isa, ngayon puwede na. Allowed na. Puwede nang may partner…”
Toni’s “Starting Over Again” leading man Piolo Pascual received the Box Office King award that same night.
The multi-talented actress married the "Kid Kulafu" director last June 12, Independence Day, in Taytay, Rizal.
