MANILA – The popular social news and entertainment website BuzzFeed has dubbed a Filipino as the “hottest mushroom farmer in the world.”
On Tuesday, BuzzFeed published an article on Marco Lobregat, a commercial model who is also the president of Ministry of Mushrooms, a start-up provider of gourmet mushrooms in the country.
Describing Lobregat, the article said: “Marco was something of a matinee idol in the Philippines in the ‘90s and early ‘00s after starring in a Coca-Cola ad campaign.”
“After working in sales and in newsrooms, Marco eventually entered agriculture and became, yes, a mushroom farmer.”
Reacting to the article, Lobregat wrote in a Facebook post: “Pleasant surprise! Thank you, BuzzFeed! Peace, love, harmony and mushrooms!”
Aside from Lobregat, actor Sam Milby has also been featured on BuzzFeed in an article titled “37 Reasons Sam Milby is the Dashing Pinoy Prince You Deserve.”
Last February, the viral entertainment website published a list titled “28 Filipino Heartthrobs Who Should Be Your Valentine This Year,” which included Milby, Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, JC de Vera, Xian Lim and Coco Martin, among others.
“The Voice of the Philippines” coach Lea Salonga, actress-host, Toni Gonzaga and comedian Vice Ganda, among others, were also featured in a BuzzFeed article titled “21 Annoying Comments Filipinos are Tired of Hearing.”
