Richard Gomez wins best actor at Portugal’s Fantasporto festival

Richard Gomez is on a winning spree.
 
Following his triumph as best supporting actor at the 13th Gawad Tanglaw as well as the 17th PASADO Awards, Richard Gomez was named Best Actor at the 35th Oporto International Film Festival or Fantasporto, in Portugal, March 7.
 
The Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that Richard won for his role in Michael Tuviera’s “The Janitor,” which was part of the Directors’ Week competition.
 
Fantasporto is annual event that turns in an average of 110,000 attendees ranging from movie fans to members of the press.
 
“The Janitor,” distributed by Star Cinema last year, was screened last March 5 at the Grande Auditório.
 
“The Janitor” revolves around the story of a former police officer ordered to target the group liable for a heinous bank robbery/massacre.
 
It won five awards at the 2014 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival under the Directors Showcase, namely Best Director, Best Screenplay (Direk Mike and Aloy Adlawan) Best Supporting Actor (Nicco Manalo), Best Editing (Tara Illenberger), and Best Sound (Mike Idioma).
