In celebration of Women's Month, two Star Cinema films upholding the power of the female specie were shown last night, March 16, at the University of the Philippines Film Institute's Cine Adarna.
These were Olivia Lamasan's "Madrasta" (starring Sharon Cuneta, Christopher de Leon, and Zsa Zsa Padilla) and "Maalaala Mo Kaya (The Movie)."
"MMK" lead stars Richard Gomez and Aiko Melendez attended the special screening, elated to see the movie again more than 20 years after it hit the big screen.
"Napakagandang opportunity nito para sa mas batang generation," said Richard. "Marami kasing mga pelikula na magaganda na naipalabas dati na hindi na natin napapanood. And this is one big step sa part ng ABS-CBN na ma-restore lalo na 'yung mga magagandang pelikula."
Also present at the screening were Direk Olive and ABS-CBN President and CEO Charo Santos-Concio, who's also been the narrator of "MMK" on TV for the longest time.
According to ABS-CBN Special Projects and Film Restoration head Leo Katigbak, 75 movies have already been restored by the ABS-CBN Film Archives since 2011 in collaboration with Central Digital Labs.
