#SNAPSHOTS: Vilma Santos feels honored over restored films

Actress-public servant Vilma Santos is nothing short of overjoyed during “Vx3,” the special screening of three of her restored films last night, Feb. 5, at the UP Film Institute.
Shown last night in what may well be a Vilma Santos marathon were “Anak” (Rory Quintos), “Kapag Langit ang Humatol” (Laurice Guillen), and “Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?” (Chito Roño).
The Star for All Seasons thanked those who made the restoration possible, as well as everyone who trooped to the venue to share the special moment with her.
Among these were Star Cinema managing director Malou Santos, head of creative Olivia Lamasan, the directors of the three restored films, ABS-CBN Special Projects and Restoration head Leo Katigbak, former co-stars Albert Martinez and Cherry Pie Picache, Batangas vice governor Mark Leviste, her friends from the press, fellow Batangeños, and of course, her Vilmanians.
Sa pamilya ko po sa ABS-CBN, ganun din sa Star Cinema, malaking karangalan po sa akin bilang artista na mapasama po sa mga restored films ang mga, modesty aside, classic films na nagawa ko po na sa panghabangbuhay ay kaya ko pong maipagmalaki…,” she said in a speech before the screening of “Bata, Bata.” “From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for considering my films para po masabi natin na maisama sa mga maipagmamalaking high-definition na pelikula ngayon…”
The Batangas governor hopes that today’s youth would get to see these three features as well as the other films restored by ABS-CBN.
“Malaking pagkakataon po ang ibinibigay sa inyo ng Star Cinema at ng ABS-CBN ang mga restored films na katulad nito at ganun din po sa ibang mga actors na merong hindi mapapantayang mga pelikula na dapat pong mapanood ng kabataan ngayon kasi ito ang mga totoong salamin ng buhay ng Pilipino,” she said.
According to Mr. Katigbak, 75 movies have already been restored by the ABS-CBN Film Archives since 2011, five of which star Vilma.

Her sixth restored movie will be shown in November, with three more on the way of restoration.
