#SNAPSHOTS: Kapamilya talents shine bright at 13th Gawad Tanglaw

Feb. 19 was a special day that recognized various talents in the entertainment industry – Kapamilya stars included – via the 13th Gawad Tanglaw (Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw).
Held at the University of Perpetual Help System in Las Piñas City, a handful of Kapamilya celebrities personally accepted their respective awards.
Piolo Pascual and Coco Martin tied in the Best Performance by an Actor category, for “Hawak Kamay” and “Ikaw Lamang” respectively. The Ultimate Heartthrob said it’s his first time to receive such recognition for TV from Gawad Tanglaw, the first one being for film (Star Cinema’s “Dekada ‘70”) back in 2002.
Angelica Panganiban achieved a rare feat of tying for the Best Actress for film category with no less than Superstar Nora Aunor (“Dementia”) for her effortless yet relatable portrayal of Mace Castillo in “That Thing Called Tadhana.”
Also tying in the Best Actress category for TV were Angel Locsin (“The Legal Wife”) and Julia Montes (“Ikaw Lamang”), who went emotional during her speech as she accepted her first acting award.
“The Trial” stars Richard Gomez and Gretchen Barretto received supporting actor and actress trophies, respectively, with the former dedicating his award to wife, congresswoman Lucy Torres-Gomez.
Gretchen, meanwhile, revealed in her speech that she carried a copy of the film’s script to Baclaran church and prayed that she’ll win an award for her role.
“The Trial” director Chito Roño, meanwhile, got this special award: Natatanging Gawad Tanglaw sa Sining ng Pelikula.
Kapamilya child stars also took home awards. Piolo’s “Hawak Kamay” co-star Xyriel Manabat won Best Single Performance by an Actress for her portrayal in the “MMK” episode “Salamin,” while “The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin” star Bimby Aquino-Yap got the Natatanging Bata (Bibo, Aktibo, at Talentadong Anak ng Sining) trophy.
