UP Film Institute honors Ate Vi with special 'V3' screening

In celebration of the University of the Philippines - Diliman Month, the UP Film Institute (UPFI) will honor Vilma Santos with “V3,” a retrospective of her three films, on Feb. 5.

Restored by ABS-CBN Film Archives with the assistance of Central Digital Lab, the three films set for screening are: “Anak” (Rory Quintos) at 2:30 p.m.; “Kapag Langit ang Humatol” (Laurice Guillen) at 5 p.m.; and “Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?” (Chito Roño) at 7:30 p.m.

“For UP Diliman Month, coinciding with the National Arts Month, UP Film Institute celebrates the Vi that stands for Victory for All Seasons, Ate Vi times 3,” UPFI head Nonoy Lauzon said in a statement. “This is in honor of Philippine cinema and popular culture’s true artist for a sovereign and empowered nation, Vilma Santos – the first UP Gawad Plaridel Awardee for Film and Recipient of UP Film Institute’s Diwata Award for Distinguished Achievement in Women’s Cinema.”

Meanwhile, the restored version of the Star for All Seasons’ movie with Superstar Nora Aunor, “T-Bird at Ako,” will be screened on Feb. 25 also at the UP Film Center.
