MANILA — Jimboy Martin of Nueva Viscaya was proclaimed the big winner of "Pinoy Big Brother 737" at the grand finals night held at the Albay Astrodome in Legazpi City Sunday.
The 17-year-old Martin, dubbed the "Barrio Rapper ng Nueva Viscaya," garnered 56.76 percent of the total number of public votes, beating three other finalists to the title. He won P1 million, a house and lot, and an Asian tour package.
Born to a simple family, Martin, who loves to rap and considers Gloc-9 as one of his inspirations, is known for his maturity, willingness to help out other housemates, and firm grasp on responsibility.
In one of the episodes, Martin could not help but break down in tears after his family got to visit and share a meal with him on his 18th birthday.
"Para sa akin po, okay pa rin naman po 'yung pagiging simpleng buhay, basta may pamilya po, kasama ko po sila. Pero mas gusto ko pong ipaalam sa kanila na binuo nila ang isa sa mga pangarap ko, ang maging Teen Big Winner, at maraming maraming salamat po sa inyo. Kung anuman pong dumating na oportunidad para sa akin, sasaluhin ko po," Martin said.
Meanwhile, Filipino-Australian Ylona Garcia won second place after receiving and 43.24 percent of the total number of public votes. She won P500,000.
Albay-native Franco Rodriguez placed third, while Bailey May, dubbed as the "Global Gwapito ng UK," landed at the fourth spot.
This is the first time that two winners were named in the reality show.
