MANILA – Filipino-Australian singer Cyrus Villanueva earned a standing from all four judges of “The X Factor Australia” after his rendition of a Bob Dylan classic during the competition’s second live show on Monday.
Villanueva performed a soulful rendition of “Knocking on Heaven’s Door” which earned him raves from the panel.
“Cyrus, I was a massive Guns 'N Roses fan growing up and that was one of my favorite songs. It was amazing,” Guy Sebastian said.
James Blunt, for his part, told the 19-year-old singer: “Cyrus, the question is not what can you sing but what can’t you sing. I think I have caught the Cyrus virus!”
Dannii Minogue continued to praise Villanueva, saying: “You are nailing it week after week. Sometimes, this show just captures people in their prime and all the stars align.”
Meanwhile, Chris Isaak was a picture of a proud mentor as he gushed about how Villanueva has grown as an artist.
On Tuesday night, it will be revealed who among the finalists will make it to Top 5.
