Mommy Pinty, mother of Toni and Alex Gonzaga, has a sweet tooth. But the sisters also noticed their mother is not fond of exercising, so for this “Team Gonzaga” episode, they urged their mother to try Zumba with the rest of their relatives.
Alex shares, “Ang lakas niya sa sugar, ang lakas niya sa matatamis. Kita naman sa katawan niya. Lagi siyang may tskolate sa bag.”
Toni adds, “Ang dami niya dahilan [para hindi mag-exercise]. Kaya sabi ko, ‘ano ba’to hindi talaga serious na magpawis. Kasi kapag naggy-gym siya nirereklamo siya ng trainer niya. Sabi sa kanya ‘o Mommy 15 minutes tayo sa treadmill a.’ Sagot niya ‘o sobrang tagal a, five lang.’ lagi siyang ganun.”
The Zumba session was led by cousin named Karen. To motivate Mommy Pinty in their first Zumba session, the sisters also invited some of their aunts and cousins.
“Napag-usapan namin na kailangan naming mag-zumba kasi ‘yung mga Tita ko nagzu-zumba, ‘yung mga pinsan ko nagzu-zumba so mas mahihikayat ‘yung Mommy ko para hindi masyadong mukhang exercise sa kanya,” says Toni.
The sisters said their mom used to be skinny too but after she gave birth to Alex, she started to gain weight as she frequented drinking sodas and eating chocolates.
“First time ko siyang makita na mag-active active na ganoon,” quips Alex. “Happy naman ako kasi for 26 years of my life, ngayon ko lang siyang nakitang nag-ganyan.”
After a while, Mommy Pinty took a rest after she felt a sudden pain in her leg, to which Toni thinks as her mother’s way to get away from working out.
“Ganoon talaga ang Mommy ko, pero in fairness sa kanya nagpursigi siyang matapos. Kasi kung walang tao, nagkulong na ‘yon,” Alex notes. “Pero happy ako kasi meron talaga siyang showmanship na ipinapakita kunwari sa pinsan ko na kaya niya.”
Meanwhile, Toni stresses the importance of having a regular exercise.
“Maraming benefits ang pagwo-work out. Nakokontrol niya ‘yung sugar mo, ‘yung cholesterol mo nababawasan. Naglo-lose ka ng calories and the best thing about it is that it strengthens your immune system. Kung ayaw mong magkasakit, magwork-out ka,” she expresses.
She adds, “kahit anong edad natin, kailangan alagaan natin ang sarili natin. Kasi we owe it to ourselves sa katawan natin e. Pinahiram lang ‘to ng Diyos lahat ‘to e. Kaya it’s our responsibility to take care of it and be a good ambassador of our body.”
